Livestock & Fish

We Raise Livestock & Fish

At Rubo-Agri, we are committed to providing high-quality meat and fresh fish to meet the needs of our customers. Our farms focus on sustainable practices, local breeds, and strategic growth. Here’s a look at what we produce:

Pigs

We started our pig farm with 7 female pigs and 1 male, sourced from local farms, along with hybrid piglets purchased from AVEC NOUS Farm in Mbandaka.

  • First-Year Goal: 42 pigs
  • Expected Annual Growth Rate: 10%
  • Feeding: We use maize by-products from our processing operations to feed the pigs.

Ducks

Our duck farm began with 15 females and 2 males. Within the first six months, we successfully raised 135 ducks, which are sold for consumption in local markets.

  • Expected Annual Growth Rate: 30%
  • Farming Method: Ducks are raised on free range across our 3 hectares of land for natural growth and health.

Goats

We started our goat farm with 10 female goats and 1 male, focusing on local breeds to preserve traditional livestock before introducing hybrid and improved breeds.

  • Expected Annual Growth Rate: 20%
  • Farming Method: Free-range grazing within our 3-hectare farm.

Fish (Tilapia & Future Catfish)

We currently operate one fish pond measuring 25m by 13m, stocked with 5,000 young tilapia sourced from fishermen on the Congo River.

  • Feeding: Tilapia are fed maize-based feed from our farm waste.
  • Future Plan: Launching a second pond for catfish to diversify our fish production.

Chickens

Our poultry section began with 15 local chickens and 1 male. These are also raised on a free-range system for healthier meat and eggs.

Sustainable Practices

All our livestock pigs, goats, chickens, and ducks benefit from farm integration. We recycle maize residues from our milling activities to feed our animals, reducing waste and lowering costs while maintaining natural growth methods.
