Mini-Industry Update: Rubo-Maize & Rubo-Rice

We are finalizing our mini-industry for maize and rice processing. Once commissioning is complete, Rubo-Maize and Rubo-Rice will be available in Mbandaka and distributed across Equateur and beyond. The plant focuses on consistent quality, proper packaging, and food safety so households and retailers can count on a reliable local supply.

What we’re launching

Rubo-Maize (maize flour): Cleaned, milled, and packaged to deliver a smooth texture and steady cooking performance.
Rubo-Rice: Carefully sorted and bagged, with controlled moisture and impurities for an even cook and better shelf life.

Why this matters for DRC

Many families still depend on imports for basic staples because local processing capacity has not kept pace with demand. That raises prices for consumers and creates stock instability when transport or currency costs spike. Increasing local transformation helps keep value in the community, supports farmers, and improves food security.

How Rubo-Agri closes the gap

  • Farmer partnerships: We buy from smallholders and out-growers in Equateur and neighboring areas to secure steady raw material.
  • Quality and safety: Standardized cleaning, milling, and packaging for consistent quality in every bag.
  • Affordability: Local processing cuts transport and foreign exchange exposure, helping keep prices fair.
  • Jobs and skills: The mini-industry creates employment in Mbandaka and builds technical capacity in the province.
